Have you seen this face before?

This painting hangs in my parent's living room. It could be of either a girl or a boy. We believe that it may have been a rehearsal for a larger, perhaps family portrait and that maybe this is hanging on a wall somewhere in the world. Under certain lights, leaves can be seen in the background of the picture and also originally, the child wore a blue sash around their waist.
